i) When an Alpha -particle is emitted by the parent nuclide, the position of daughter nuclide is shifted to the left by two groups from the position of parent nuclide. i.e. Z is decreased by two units.
ii) When a Beta -particle is emitted, the position is shifted to the right by one group. i.e. Z is increased by one unit.
